Tinsel print

Handcoloured theatrical souvenir portrait print engraved with a portrait of an actor in the role of The Golden Knight. The portrait is embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments, notably on the armour and weapons. The majority of tinsel prints feature male actors, many of whom are depicted in suits of armour, as these offered scope for tinsel decoration. This portrait has been cut from a paper sheet and mounted on card hand coloured with background scenery. Such portraits would have been sold plain for colouring and tinselling at home.
