Mr T.P.Cooke as Union Jack
Handcoloured theatrical souvenir portrait print engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr T.P.Cooke in the role of Union Jack. The portrait is embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments notably on the dress accessories and weapons. The clothing is of silk and cotton. The portrait has been cut from a paper sheet and mounted on a card hand-coloured with background scenery. T.P.Cooke was a popular subject and features in a number of prints in the museum's collection. Such portraits would have been sold plain for colouring and tinselling at home. This print was published by J.Redington & J.King.
