Seal impression
Wax cast of seal impression of Elizabeth I.
The seal contains the crowned fleur-de-lis (sympol of France) and the legend makes reference to Elizabeth being ruler of France. However, by Elizabeth's reign, England had lost all territory in France. This tradition of claiming the title of ruler of France would carry on until George III.
