Printed Ephemera
The 'Worlds End'
The poem on this paper bag describes R H Clements' finest Winkles as 'esteemed by the whole of London'. Traditionally associated with London's working class, winkles and other shellfish have been a popular street food in London since the 19th century. Shellfish sold from mobile stalls would be packaged in paper bags or small tubs. This bag was used by R H Clements' Kings Road outlet.
