Prehistoric — Middle-Late Iron Age
Dagger, sheath
Iron dagger and sheath. Bronze front-plate held to iron back-plate by split iron tube down either side, which feathers off under the bronze chape-frame. Median rib on front, profile sharpened by sweeping tool strokes. Criss-cross bordering of intersecting zig-zags. Two flat-dome studs near top represent the rivets holding the sheath-lining. The iron back-plate has a single iron strap suspension-loop, with a long tail (extracted from Jope, E. M., 2000, Early Celtic Art).
