Printed Ephemera — 1846-1865
Card
Handmade card produced to celebrate the birth of a baby. Comprising an embossed white envelope with purple / lilac embossed flowers and a plain central oval in which is handwritten 'Take me in and use me well for in this place my father dwells'. Inside the envelope is a cut out figure of a baby printed with colour chromolithographed features and clothing of cotton net and tissue paper ribbons. The long gown is folded once to fit into the envelope. The baby rests on a pillow of shaped, embossed paper.
