Trade card, invoice
Copper-engraved trade card publicising the business of John Brown, furniture and cabinet maker and upholsterer located at the sign of the Three Covered Chairs and Walnut Tree, the east side of St Paul's Cathedral church yard. The trade card includes an engraving of the tradesman's sign of three upholstered chairs and a walnut tree within an elaborate cartouche incorporating two cherubs and two side shelves holding a framed mirror and a pot plant. Below, engraved in English round hand script is a description of Brown's business that includes the selling and making of chairs, cabinets tables, chimney glasses and window blinds. On the reverse is a handwritten invoice dated July 1744 referring to the supply of mhogany dish stands and spring curtains to Mr Hucks.
