Printed Ephemera — 1799-1805
Mr. John Hayman
Copper-engraved trade card or advertisement publicising the business of the chemist and druggist John Hayman, located on the south side of Golden Square, London. The card includes an engraving by Joshua Long of the premises originally built by the late Surgeon Norton, the inventor of Maredant's Drops now occupied by Hayman his successor. The text includes details of the price of Maredant's Antiscorbutic Drops available from Hayman. This remedy used for treating scurvy, leprosy, ulcers and other diseases was invented by John Norton in the 1760s.
