A boxed Walkers 'Viking' Amidships ships' log connector. A ship's log was used on vessels to measure their speed and distance of travel by trailing a spinning 'fish' in the wake of the ship. In vessels over 400' in length, the spinning 'fish' could be trailed from a boom suspended out from the middle of the ship. This devise onnected the cable linking the spinning fish to the mechanical log.
