Gray's Inn - Hall
Gray's Inn, The hall, 1885. This photograph was commissioned by the Society for Photographing Relics of Old London to form part of a permanent visual record of historic buildings threatened with alteration or possible demolition in the 1870s and 1880s. Gray's Inn is one of the four Inns of Court which are the professional bodies for barristers and judges in England and Wales. The Hall was built in the mid 16th century and has a hammerbeam roof. It was badly damaged by a bomb during the Second World War and was rebuilt to a design by Edward Maufe in 1951
