Little Dean's Yard, Westminster
Little Dean's Yard, Westminster, 1882. This photograph was commissioned by the Society for Photographing Relics of Old London to form part of a permanent visual record of historic buildings threatened with alteration or possible demolition in the 1870s and 1880s. It shows the entrance to the quadrangle from the cloisters of Westminster Abbey. The yard still exists, and is now a private gated yard inside Westminster School, but part from the pedimented arched doorway on the right, this corner of the yard had been rebuilt by 1890.
