The good child or sweet home
Children's book of verses entitled 'The Good child or sweet home.' The 27 page book is illustrated with fourteen coloured engravings. On the inner cover is the handwritten dedication 'Jane Clark Coleman this book given her by Mary Goddard Oct 5 1825' The soft paper cover is printed with the title, publisher details and small black and white engraving depicting the child's mother bringing him a plum cake. This engraving also appears in the book as a coloured illustration. The book has been protected by an outer marble paper covering. The book has a moral tone and depicts a 'good child' who enjoys his holidays at home but also understands the importance of studying and why he needs to go away to boarding school.
