The first edition of this work was issued in 14 folio volumes from 1772 to 1776, with supplements in 1777 and 1787. In 1783 a second quarto edition was issued and ran until 1787. Most of the drawings were Grose's own, and the London subjects were engraved by R.B. Godfrey, James Newton, Record and Sparrow.
