Hungerford Market
Hungerford Market was a fruit, vegetable, meat and fish market opened in 1682 by Sir Edward Hungerford on the site of a house (and garden) burnt down in 1669. It was reopened in July 1833 after being rebuilt by Charles Fowler. Three of the four illustrations on this sheet are schematic architectural drawings, the fourth the River Front. The market was demolished in 1860 to make way for Charing Cross Station. Pl. 1, p. 301.
