The Duke of York's Head
Henry Napton issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Whitechapel, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3419; Obv inscription: HENRY.NAPTON [Boyne has MARTON] (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Duke of York's head D.Y (initials in Roman capitals on either side of sign, in field); Rev inscription: IN.WHITECHAPPELL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = H.N / 1667 [Boyne has H.M] (in two lines of Roman capitals, in field).
