The Raven
John Woodman, a cheesemonger, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Raven, in the parish of St Giles in the Fields, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2513; Obv inscription: IOHN.WOODMAN.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A raven (in field); Rev inscription: IN.ST.GILESES.IN.YE.FEILDS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = 1665 / CHESES / MONGE / R (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
