Sir Paul Pinders Lodge in Half Moon Alley
Sir Paul Pindar's Lodge, Half Moon Alley, 1791. Paul Pindar was sent to London from Northampton as a boy and apprenticed to a merchant who made him his factor in Italy where he made his fortune. He returned to London in the 1620s and built this fine mansion. It was demolished by the Great Eastern Railway in 1890 after having been used as a notable tavern throughout the C18.
