Printed Ephemera — 1584-08-12
Will
This is the will of John Cowper, citizen and fishmonger of London. It is written in very neat hand and dated 12 August 1584. Cowper passes his property to his daughter Mary Smith. Like many wealthy citizens he leaves money to be distributed to the poor at the time of his funeral, to the poor of St Magnus, as well as to the poor in St Thomas Hospital, prisoners in Newgate and Ludgate and 'lunaticks' in Bedlam.
