Axehead, flanged axehead, developed flat axe
An Early to Middle Bronze Age copper alloy flanged axehead. This type of axehead is also known as a developed flat axe dating 1,950 - 1,750 BCE. The axehead has a plain wide blade and slight stop-ridge. The well-marked flanges continue about half-way down the blade, and the sides are bevelled.
Flat axeheads are the first metal axeheads in use in Britain, they were valuable and important as metal was scarce.
