Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; late 14th century
Courtesy; ?Black Prince
Secular badge of a male figure, possibly the Black Prince, dated to the 14th century. The letters match the style of a Black Prince funerary badge (BC72[79]<1821>) and they have the same hatched ground. It has been argued that these badges were produced by the same craftman for the Black Prince's funeral in 1376.
