Prehistoric — Early Bronze Age; Chalcolithic
Halberd
Copper halberd of heavy asymmetrical type with broad thick central rib and bevelled edges. Lunate shaped butt with asymmetrical shoulders and three rivets for attachment still in place. This is an early example of metalworking and was probably manufactured in Ireland. It is mounted on a replica shaft. Found on same site as a pair of antler mattocks (A27513 and A27514).
