Sword
Iron sword with horizontal quillons which are slightly down-curved at the ends. There is a maker's mark inlaid with brass (a running wolf and orb and cross or possibly a crosier). One half of the grip remains (possibly made from horn). The pommel is wheel-shaped. Sword-play helped to develop prowess, agility and endurance. Gentlemen were encouraged to practise their fencing skills because it was 'good in itself' and useful 'at the tourney and barriers.'
