Rule; folding rule
This folding measuring rule was found during an excavation in Lovat Lane just to the north of the old Billingsate Market. The scale on the rule is non-linear suggesting that it was used to measure the volume of timber. It is possible that rule was thrown away by a carpenter working on a building site in the vicinity.
