Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; late 14th-15th century
Shoe
Sole for a left foot adult size shoe with a pointed toe. The sole is worn. There are flesh/grain and tunnel stitch holes above and below the waist and around the outer edges of the outer surface of the sole for the attachment of two clump (repair) soles - one at the front of the sole and one at the rear. Fragments of thread are still in situ in the upper/sole seams and in the stitch holes for the repairs.
