Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; mid-late 15th century
Patten
A right foot patten comprising approximately three layers, including the outer sole. It is extremely narrow and has a sharply pointed toe. The sole has grit from wear on it and a stitching channel parallel to its outer edge. The stitch holes on the sole are elongated and at right angles to the edge, whilst those on the inner sole are almost square. There are traces of one of the attachment straps just above the waist.
