Drinking glass, goblet
Goblet made in Sea Green glass. The bell-shaped bowl on a blown trumpet foot with folded edge. The bowl and foot wheel-engraved with stylized lotus leaves and flowers in the Egyptian style. Pattern no. 1189, designed by Harry Powell, cf. pattern book for 1903-1910, p. 312. Illustrated in W. Evans, C. Ross and A. Werner, Whitefriars Glass. James Powell & Sons of London, London 1995, fig. 100 on p. 95, cf. also pl. 403 on p. 271 for the relevant page from Harry Powell's Notebook: Glasses with Histories. One of a series of vases and 'cups' based on the shapes and decoration of Egyptian faience pieces in the British Museum, shown at the Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 1910.
