This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Sun Tavern, in Whitechapel, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3404A; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SVNN.TAVERNE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sun (in field); Rev inscription: IN.WHITCHAPPEL.1658 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.E.F. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Whitechapel lay in Stepney, Middlesex; it is now part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
