Seal matrix
Merchant's seal bearing a merchant's mark and an inscription in Lombardic letters: 'S' ALBERTI BEIEN'. Indispensable for business, personal seals and signet rings were used to authenticate legal and financial transactions. Merchants' rings were often engraved with a monogram or distinctive device that identified their goods and property.
