Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 14th-15th century
Earscoop and toothpick
Earscoop with a twisted handle. There is a pointed toothpick at the other end of the handle. Although medieval doctors were uncertain whether bathing was good for you ('in time of pestilence avoid baths'), objects such as toothpicks and earscoops show that medieval Londoners cared about personal grooming.
