Adze-hammer
Iron adze-hammer found near the river Thames. There was an iron wedge inside its socket. Many woodworking tools have been found in or near the river and show the importance of the building trades. Between 1357 and 1359 John Frost junior, Thomas Porteloye and 24 other carpenters were fined for breaking the regulations that set maximum wages. Some special tools, like the adze, were used by ship-builders.
