Token, trade token
Edward Geery, a broker, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in St Clement's Churchyard.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2457; Obv inscription: EDWARD. GEERY. IN. ST. CLEMENTS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = E.L.G. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: CHVRCH.YARD.BROKER.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
