Toy bagatelle
Miniature tinplate castle ball game with spirit painted green castle (now incomplete) and red spiral keep wall on gold base. A lever and spring mechanism would propel a ball along the spiral wall towards seven numbered depressions in the centre of the base for a game of chance. Purchased for one penny (1d) from a London street trader on 30th January 1897. Probably made by Johann Phillip Meier.
