The Acorn
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the sign of the Acorn, in Long Lane, Smithfield.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1826; Obv inscription: AT.THE.ACORNE.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = An acorn (in field); Rev inscription: LONG.LANE.1656 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.S.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
