The Coffee House
Robert Halton issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his coffee house in Cornhill, Cornhill Ward, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 723; Obv inscription: ROBERT.HALTON (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A man seated holding a cup into which a servant is pouring coffee (in field); Rev inscription: IN. CORNHILL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.E.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
