The Anchor
G.A.Bacheler issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Anchor tavern, in Billiter Lane (now Billiter Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 207; Obv inscription: G.A.BACHELER.AT.YE (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field above symbol) Device = an anchor (in field, below text); Rev inscription: IN.BILLITER.LANE.HALF.PENY.1668 (in five lines of Roman capitals, in field).
There is another similar token in the museum collection, NN16496. Billiter Lane, now Billiter Street, lies in Aldgate Ward, in the City of London.
