The Hart's Horn
Thomas Lawrence issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Bell Yard, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 173; Obv inscription: THO. LAWRENCE. IN. BELL. YARD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Hart's horns and portcullis (in field); Rev inscription: WITHIN.TEMPLE.BARR.66 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / T.A.L (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).

The northern portion of Bell Yard lay in the ward of Farringdon Without, in the City of London, whilst the southern portion lay in Westminster, Middlesex, now the City of Westminster.
