The Sugar Loaf
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business in Addle Street (now Basinghall Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 11; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SVGAR.LOFE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sugar-loaf between A.K. (in field, initials in Roman capitals); Rev inscription: IN.ADDELL.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A.K. (in field, in Roman capitals).

The sign of a sugarloaf was commonly used by grocers'. Addle Street (subsequently Basinghall Street) lies in the ward of Crippegate Within in the City of London.
