Mavor's easy spelling book
Chapbook entitled 'Mavor's Easy Spelling book'. The book is illustrated with woodcut engravings and comprises eight pages, the first two printed with the alphabet and the following six printed with verses, spelling lists and a concluding prayer. The book has paper covers, the front cover printed with the title and publisher's name and illustrated with an engraving of a young lady reading within fancy borders. The back cover has an engraving depicting a young man within a rural setting. William Fordyce Mavor wrote a number of educational and spelling books in the early 19th century.
