Decorative arts — 1746
Salt cellar
This porcelain salt cellar is shaped like a stylised shell supported by two dolphins. It is marked with an incised triangle and the date 1746. The style is very similar to the rococo silverware made by Nicholas Sprimont who established the Chelsea Porcelain Factory. This is probably one of the earliest objects produced there.
