Henry VII angel
A gold Angel of Henry VII (1485-1509). The obverse: St Michael the Archangel vanquishing the dragon piercing it through the mouth with a spear/cross. St Michael has both knees bent, and he stands on the dragon, to whom his back is half turned. The legend reads: HENRIC.DI.GRA.REX.AGL'Z.FRA. ('Henry by the Grace of God, King of England and France'). The reverse: with a ship surmounted by square-topped shield and mast dividing the letter 'H' and a rose, twith he legend: PER.CRVCE'TVA'.SALVA.NOS XPE.RE, ('By thy cross save us, O Christ, our Redeemer') with saltire stops. The mint mark is a greyhound's head, 1504.
