Valinch, metal valinch
Depth gauging stick made by Dring and Fage for HM Customs. It was used in London's docks to determine the volume of wine or spirits in a cask, to calculate the amount of duty payable. This example was used by Customs Officers based at the Royal Victoria Dock in Newham.
