Prehistoric — Lower Palaeolithic; c. 300000BC
Biface
Pointed biface or handaxe of sharp, slightly stained, dark grey flint. Symmetrical, small amount of cortex flaws, possibly fossil holes on one edge. Part of a group of flint tools said to have come from the site of the Regent Palace Hotel, Glasshouse St, Piccadilly. The unusually fresh condition of this example suggests that it must have lain close to where it had been dropped by the last user.
