Prehistoric — Lower Palaeolithic
Flake, Levallois flake
This flint was shaped by an early human. It was later discovered in Aldwych. It dates from a time when Britain was still joined to the Continent. Early humans, the ancestors of modern people, were then living across much of northern Europe. The flint was made using a technique named after a suburb in Paris where many flint tools like this were found.
