Coin, denarius
A silver denarius of the Roman Republic. The coin depicts Roma, the female personification of Rome and the Dioscuri, the twin sons of Leda and Zeus, Castor and Pollux. This coin was minted under the authority of the moneyer, C. Antestius, in Rome, Italy, c. 137-134 BC.
Obv: Helmeted head of Roma, facing right, with a dog behind her head and an X below her chin. Rev: Castor and Pollox, on horsback, advancing right, holding lances. Rev inscription: C ANTESTI, ROMA in exergue.
