Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of the Roman Republic. The coin depicts (the possibly fictional) Titus Tatius, the king of the Sabines and Tarpeia, a Roman woman who betrayed the city to the Sabines. This coin was minted under the authority of the moneyer, L. Titurius L.f. Sabinus, in Rome, Italy, 88 BC.
Obv: Bearded head of Tatius, facing right. Obv inscription: SABIN APV. Rev: Tarpeia, crouched in the centre of two standing soldiers casting their shields on her, with a crescent and a star above. Rev inscription: L TITVRI.
