Coin, nummus AE2
A copper alloy nummus of Decentius, Caesar (Crown Prince) under the usurper Magnentius, AD 351-353. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 351-353.
Obv: Cuirassed, bare-headed bust of Decentius, facing right. Obv inscription: DN DECENTIVS NOB CAES. Rev: Two Victories, standing face to face, holding a wreath inscribed VOT V MVLT X and surmounted by the Chi-Rho. Rev inscription: VICTORIAE DD NN AVG ET CAE, SP in field, LPLG in exergue.
