Coin, nummus AE4
A copper alloy nummus of Constans. Constans was raised to the rank of Caesar (Crown Prince) by his father, Emperor Constantine, in AD 333. Following his father’s death in AD 337, he became co-emperor alongside his brothers, Constantine II and Constantius II, AD 337-350. The back of the coin depicts two soldiers. This coin was minted in Treveri (modern day Trier, Germany), AD 335-337.
Obv: Draped and diademed bust of Constans, facing right. Obv inscription: FL IVL CONSTANS [NOB CAES]. Rev: Two soldiers, standing front, with a military standard between them. Rev inscription: [GLORIA EXERCITVS], TRP in exergue.
