Coin, nummus AE4
A copper alloy nummus of Empress Helena, consort to Emperor Constantius I, ruler of the Western Empire, AD 293-306, and mother to Emperor Constantine I, AD 306-337. The back of the coin depicts Pax, the Roman goddess of peace. This coin was minted in either, Trier, Rome or Constantinople, AD 337-340.
Obv: Diademed bust of Helena, facing right. Obv inscription: FL IVL HELENA AVG. Rev: Pax, standing left, holding a branch in her right hand and a transverse sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: PAX PVBLICA.
