Coin, tetradrachm
A silver alloy (billon) tetradrachm coin of Emperor Philip I, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 244-249. The back of the coin depicts Nilus, the Greek god of the Nile River. This coin was minted in Alexandria, Egypt, AD 245-246.
Obv: Cuirassed and laureate bust of Philip I facing right. Obv inscription: AKMIOV [ΦІΛІΠΠ]O CEV CEB. Rev: Nilus, reclining left, crowned with a lotus and naked to the waist, holding a reed in his right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Rev inscription: LΓ in field.
