Coin, nummus AE2
A copper alloy nummus of Emperor Constantine I, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 306-337. The back of the coin depicts Genius. This coin was minted in Arelate (modern day Arles, France), AD 315-316.
Obv: Draped and laureate bust of Constantine I, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CONSTANTINVS P F AVG. Rev: Genius, standing left, modius on head, holding a patera (dish) in his right hand and a cornucopia in the left, shoulder draped with a chlamys (cloak). Rev inscription: GENIO POP ROM, SF in field, [P]ARL in exergue.
